Women's Swimming & Diving: Meet Day Preview vs. Kean

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State women's swim team visits Kean University Saturday afternoon.

WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks fell 170-92 against Rowan last Saturday. The Red Hawks took second in the 200-medley relay (SOPHIA SHOPOVICK, ABBY BROCK, CATTY GEYER, and ROURKE PERALTA) before JULIE TIEDEMANN was second in the 1,000-free (11:15.27). Shopovick grabbed second in the 100-back (1:01.48) before Brock tallied the first win of the afternoon in the 100-breaststroke (1:09.31). Geyer placed second in the 200-fly (2:17.57) before Peralta grabbed the second spot in the 50-free (25.39). Brock claimed her second win of the day in the 200-breast (2:34.5), as Tiedemann and Shopovick tallied their second second-place times of the afternoon.
 
SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 31-2 all-time against Kean and has won 18 consecutive meets against the Cougars. Kean's last victory came on November 28, 1989, in a 135-81 triumph.
 
LAST MEETING
The team topped Kean 103-79 last season, receiving two wins from rookies Amber Rocheleau and JULIANA SKOPP-CARDILLO. Along with Emily Rothamel and JACQUELINE GRAYSON, those two opened the meet with a first-place time of 1:57.45 in the 200-medley relay. The foursome of SOPHIA SHOPOVICK, ABBY BROCK, Stephani Mejia, and Sophia Ciaravino notched a third-place finish of 2:01.28. After JULIE TIEDEMANN grabbed second in 11:30.86 in the 1,000-freestyle, sophomores Lidia Boguslawska and Molly Moore went 1-2 in the 200-free. Boguslawska clocked in at 2:06.4, while Moore touched the wall at 2:12.62. It was another 1-2 finish for the Red Hawks in the 50-freestyle, with Ciaravino winning in 26.43 and Skye Sener taking second in 26.68. They finished their scoring by claiming the top-three spots in the 100-backstroke. ERIN BARRETT was first in 1:04.43, Sener was second in 1:06.27, and Boguslawska was third in 1:07.7.

The team returns to the pool for the three-day Franklin & Marshall Invitational November 18-20.
