Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's track and field team placed five student-athletes on the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Metro Region Team Wednesday.
DiMaulo tied for fourth at the AARTFC Regional Championships, setting a career-best jump of 7.22m. He hit the mark on his first attempt, missing third place by .03m. With that jump, the senior surpassed his previous best, which was 7.09m at the NJAC Outdoor Track Championships this season.
Fogarty placed fourth at the AARTFC Regional Championships, reaching 4.4m on his second attempt at the height. Like DiMaulo, the height was a career-best for the sophomore. Entering the meet, he had only hit over 4.3m once, and it was during the Widener Invitational in late April.
Martin notched a 12th place mark in the 110-hurdles, clocking in at 15.57 at the AARTFC Championships. The junior recorded a career-best time in the season-opening Oscar Moore Invitational, where he hit 15.23 en route to a second-place time.
Griffith and Valentine qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships, with Valentine claiming his first career AARTFC Regional Championship in the javelin. The graduate student threw 59.61m on his third try, winning the meet by 2.17m. Earlier this season, he set a career-best throw, hitting 60.93m on his second throw to finish third overall.
The sophomore Griffith had a breakout season in 2022, qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Championships for the first time. He tallied fourth-place throws in the discus (49.25m) and shot put (15.23m). Griffith took 14th in the country in the shot put as he reached 15.49m. The Upper Saddle River, NJ native, hit personal bests in both events this season, throwing 49.83m in the discus at the season-opening Oscar Moore Invitational and 16.23m at the NJAC Outdoor Championships. Griffith picked up victories in both the shot put and discus at the NJAC meet this spring.
