Itoua Wins 200-Meter Dash at Monmouth Winter Invitational

Ewing, NJ – Rookie MICHELLE ITOUA won the 200-meter dash as the Montclair State track & field teams posted strong performances at the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational.

WOMEN'S RECAP

Itoua led a pair of Red Hawks to top-five times in the 200, as she crossed the finish line in 27.73. That time was .05 seconds faster than Christine Gayle of Adelphi. SIDNEY WHETSTONE was fourth in 28.23, with ALEXA ALI seventh in 28.51.
The freshman qualified for the finals of the 60-meter dash, placing sixth in 8.3. JEALYNE RAMOS notched a win in the 400-meter, winning in 1:03.93 as BRIANNA RODDY and CHRISTIANA CAPRIO went back-to-back in the mile. Roddy had a time of 5:56.61, and Caprio finished at 6:09.13.
Whetstone placed third in the long jump, hitting a personal best of 5.35m, as freshman TANIYA GILES took second in the shot put. She threw 12.33m, with TARA MASTROIANNI placing eighth in the shot (9.92m) and ninth in the weight throw (11.41m).

MEN'S RECAP

Sophomore SAMAEL MILEVOIX took second in the 200-meter, crossing the finish line in 23.1, with JORDAN DICKERSON finishing third in the 400 in 52.87. JACKSON DALTON (53.63), ETHAN ARCE (54.75), and DEREK PEZO (56.2) also recorded top-10 times.
Both KIMANI CARRINGTON and CAMERYN MARTIN qualified for the finals of the 60-meter hurdles. Carrington notched a second-place time of 8.56, with Martin fourth in 8.77.
NICHOLAS SCHAFFER took sixth in the 500 (1:10.46), and KAMAL KHAN was eighth in the 800 (2:07.94).
In the field events, JOHN GRIFFITH placed third in the shot put with an indoor personal-best throw of 15.85m. BECK DEENY was fourth in the triple jump, leaping 12.86m.
