Men's Track Opens Season At Seahawk Shootout

Staten Island, NY – The Montclair State University men's track & field team opened their winter slate at the Seahawk Shootout on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

SEBASTIAN RUIZ was the Red Hawks' top performer on the track, turning in a 14th-place time of 2:37.48. The time was 10 seconds off his previous best time in the event. The 4x200 meter relay team of OWEN ZAPANTA, JAMIE HAMILTON, SHELDON AGYEMANG, and DANIEL ALSINA turned in a sixth place time of 1:33.23, missing top-five by .12 seconds.
MATTHEW HAILU turned in a 16th-place throw of 12.07m in the shot put, as ANTHONY DIMAULO was 13th in the long jump with a leap of 6.65m. JABEZ THOMAS took 17th in the triple jump, reaching 13.33m on his third attempt.
Newcomer JALANI JOSEPH hit 1.9m on the high jump, which was good for ninth while placing 20th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.98m. DAMJAN DIMITROVSKI took 23rd in the 600m in 1:26.13, as ALEX CARAMELLI was 26th in the 1,000 with a time of 4:55.82.
