Walk-Off Win Helps Baseball Take Down Manhattanville In Doubleheader

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State baseball made it a clean sweep, taking down Manhattanville 22-4 and 6-5 in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon.

Rookie MATTEO PASCULLI had a walk-off single in game two for Montclair (12-2).

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Montclair wasted little time, scoring three times in the first inning of the opener. With runners on the corners and one out, SAM ANGELO doubled to center to plate the first run. An error brought in the second run before MATT KALISKE lined a run-scoring knock to center.
  • The Red Hawks pushed across five runs with two down in the second. After a one-out double from ZACH STEARNS, MILES FEASTER sent him home with a single up the middle. JASON MOORE and Kaliske delivered RBI hits before a wild pitch, and a XANDER NABORS RBI double polished off the inning scoring.
  • The hosts erupted for 12 runs on six hits in the third. Nabors singled with the bases loaded to make it 10-0 before Pasculli tripled to right, clearing the bases. Stearns, Feaster, and Angelo brought runners home without a hit, with Moore and Kaliske delivering multiple RBI knocks.
  • The two sides traded runs in the fifth before the guests capped the scoring with three in the top of the seventh.
  • Kaliske continued to stay hot in the second game, dropping an RBI single into right field in the first inning. The Red Hawks doubled their lead in the third as Feaster scooted home on a passed ball.
  • The Red Hawks added to their lead in the fourth, with Stearns notching an RBI single and Angelo bringing a runner home on an error.
  • The Valiants took their first advantage of the day, scoring five times in the fifth. Manhattanville kept the Red Hawks at bay until the ninth inning, entering with a 5-4 lead.
  • Feaster walked to lead off the inning and moved 180 feet on an errant pickoff throw. After an out, Moore walked, and a pitch hit Kaliske to load the bases. MICHAEL MURPHY walked to bring in the tying run before Pasculli lined a single into left, scoring Moore to complete the walk-off.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Kaliske and Moore drove in four runs a piece, with Kaliske finishing a homer shy of the cycle.
