Baseball Upends Keystone, 18-8

Montclair, NJ – The No. 22 Montclair State baseball team ran their winning streak to five with an 18-8 triumph over Keystone College Wednesday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks (13-2) fell into a hole, surrendering three runs in the top of the second. The team responded in a big way, putting up four during their turn at the dish. JASON MOORE lined a one-out double to left before a hit by pitch and a walk loaded the bases. ANTHONY GUARINO hit a two-run double to center before XANDER NABORS brought a run home with a groundout.
  • After tacking on two runs in the third, the Red Hawks exploded for eight in the sixth. Nabors and MATTEO PASCULLI had run-scoring walks during the frame, with ZACH STEARNS and Moore delivering two-run singles.
  • RYAN MCKENNA added to the lead with an RBI groundout in the seventh, but the Giants cut into the deficit with a two-run home run in the eighth. Montclair capped off the scoring in the eighth, as MATT KALISKE had an RBI double, with Pasculli and Guarino producing run-scoring outs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Moore went 3-for-4 with three RBI, including the 100th hit of his career.
  • Guarino knocked in three runs as SAM ANGELO scored three times.
  • DYLAN TALIAFERRO notched his second win of the year, going five innings with eight strikeouts.
  • CHRIS LUM struck out three of the four hitters he faced.
UP NEXT
The Red Hawks host Rutgers-Newark in their New Jersey Athletic Conference opener Saturday, with the first pitch at Yogi Berra Stadium scheduled for 11:30 am.
