Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University men's soccer team opens the 2023 campaign against New York University on Friday evening.

2022 REWIND
The Red Hawks went unblemished during the NJAC regular season, posting an 8-0-1 record. They clinched the NJAC Regular Season Championship with a 4-1 triumph over William Paterson, thanks to a hat-trick from AMER LUKOVIC. Montclair punched their ticket to the NJAC Championship with a 2-1 win over Rutgers-Camden behind a brace from Lukovic.

SCOUTING NYU
The Violets went 9-5-3 last season, including a 4-1-2 mark in the United Athletic Association. NYU qualified for the NCAA Tournament but fell to Williams College 2-1 in the First Round. Arkan Tahsildaroglu was tabbed as a Third Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches after scoring eight goals with nine assists.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair is 10-5-3 all-time against NYU. The last three meetings have gone to overtime, with NYU notching a 1-0-2 mark. The Red Hawks' last victory came on November 11, 2018, when they outlasted the Violets 5-4 in penalty kicks after a 0-0 draw.

LAST MEETING
NYU earned a 2-1 overtime triumph on September 11, 2021. AMER LUKOVIC opened the scoring with a goal off a Ryan Catalano assist in the 23rd minute, but NYU equalized 12 minutes later. After a scoreless second half, Arkan Tahsildaroglu snapped the 1-1 tie off a pass from Oliver Kleban.
