Poughkeepsie, NY – The Montclair State University women's swimming and diving team surged past Vassar, 175-109, on Friday night for its fifth consecutive victory to open the 2024-25 campaign.
The 5-0 start for Montclair is its best to open a season since the 1986-87 campaign.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Red Hawks saw a strong night from ROURKE PERALTA, who finished with three individual victories for the third time in a meet this season. The junior clocked a time of 24.61 in the 50 free, her fourth win of the campaign in the event. She also clocked in at 54.35 in the 100 free and 2:00.30 in the 200 free to round out the meet.
- SOPHIA SHOPOVICK took home a first place finish in the 100 back with a mark of 1:01.33, and also swam as part of the 200 yard medley relay team with ABBY BROCK, MADELINE ROGERS, and Peralta that took first with a time of 1:52.09. In their individual events, Brock took first in the 100 breast (1:08.69) and Rogers touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly (1:01.84).
- MADI CUNARD tallied scores of 153.80 and 230.05 in the 1M dive to take home first in each event.
