Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State Women's Swimming and Diving junior
ROURKE PERALTA broke the Panzer Athletic Center Pool 50 free record that highlighted the Red Hawks improving to 7-0 on the year with their wins against the College of Staten Island (145-84) and Hunter (155-85) on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The record happened during the 200 free relay when she led off with a time of 23.97.
- CATTY GEYER led the way with her first wins of the season when she touched the wall first in both the 100 fly (1:02.40) and the 1000 free (11:59.88).
- The Red Hawks saw five other swimmers get individual wins. SOPHIA SHOPOVICK won her heat in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.35 for her third win of the season in the event. ABBY BROCK took the victory in the 50 free with a time of 25.77, her first win of the season in the event. JULIE TIEDEMANN took first in the 200 free for the first time this season when she clocked a 2:03.20 while JULIA WEINREB touched the wall first in the 50 back for the first time this season when she clocked a 28.81. LILI SHAY tallied her first overall win of the season during today's meet when she outraced the field in the 50 breast with a time of 32.60.
- MADI CUNARD notched the wins in 1M Diving with scores of 156.05 and 223.10. The Red Hawks also saw dives from AUDREY HITCHENS and OLIVIA SALMONS. Hitchens compiled scores of 127.45 and 183.90 while Salmons scored 118.00.
- The 200 medley team of Shopovick, MARIANNE TASSINARI, Peralta and Brock outraced the competition with a 1:53.06 to win the event. The were followed by the Red Hawks "B" relay team of ABBY PANZARELLA, SYDNEY MCGANN, BRYN WILSON and JULIANA SKOPP-CARDILLO who compiled a 1:58.72 for a second-place finish.
