Staten Island, NY- The Montclair State University Indoor Track and Field team opened up their season at the Seahawk Shootout, hosted by Wagner College at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday afternoon
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The highlight from the meet came from freshman KYESHAUN SYLVESTER, who broke the program's 300-meter run record when he clocked a 35.63. That time placed 15th at the meet.
- BECK DEENY earned himself a regional qualifier at the meet in the triple jump, earning a mark of 13.50m (44' 3.5").
- The highest placement of the day came from HIVEN BIFFOT, who placed seventh at the meet in the 1.90m (6' 2.5") in his first collegiate meet. JALANI JOSEPH placed 10th in the same event with a mark of 1.85m (6' 0.75") while JARROD KOON had the 15th best jump at 1.80m (5'10 0.75")
- DAMJAN DIMITROVSKI placed 15th among the field in the 600-meter run when he clocked a 1:24.18, which was a career-high time for the junior
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- Sylvester's record bested the previous 36.22 held by Samael Milevoix, which was set in 2021 at the same event. He also set this record in his first collegiate meet
- Dimitrovski was extremely close to setting a record of his own in his 600-meter run, missing the mark by .02. Terry Iavarone owns the record at 1:24.16, which has stood since 2009.
