Gettysburg, Pa.- The Montclair State Swimming and Diving Team saw two records fall during their first day at the two-day Gettysburg Invite. The Red Hawks currently stand in third place out of five teams competing.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first record came from MICHAEL SALVATORI, who swam a 1:53.44 in the 200 IM. The record was the third-longest-standing individual record in program history and was held by Kevin Clauss, who held the record since February 19, 2016.
- The second record break came from the 200 medley team of LUCAS GOMES, MICHAEL WOJCIECHOWICZ, BOBBY FREECE, and PETER JARZAB. The quartet took down the longest-standing relay record in program history with a time of 1:24.83. The previous record of 1:25.13 was set on February 15, 2013, by Michael Smith, Joseph Berry, Thomas Long, and Zak Westerberg.
- In the 500 free, the Red Hawks saw two top-five finishes in the event. VINCENT TERZO clocked a season-best time by about 12 seconds when he clocked a 4:42.76 to finish third in the event. RYAN KAPPES placed fifth with a time of 4:45.50, which bested his personal best by about 13 seconds.
- In the 50 free, Gomes led the pack and was just shy of leading the event with a second-place finish. He clocked a season-best 21.06. Jarzab placed seventh among the field with a season-best time of 21.60.
- DENNIS DELARGY, BRANDON DO, Jarzab, and Gomes were the "A" relay for Montclair in the 400 free relay and saw a fifth-place finish with a time of 3:32.10, which bested the seed time by two seconds.
UP NEXT
Montclair State University will head compete on day two of the Gettysburg Invite on Saturday, December 7. Preliminary swims will begin at 10:00 am with the final session starting at 5:00 pm.
