Griffith, Dayon Post Victories At Ramapo Season Opener

Mahwah, NJ – JOHN GRIFFITH and GABRIEL DAYON tallied wins as the Montclair State University men's track & field team sits in first place at the Ramapo College Season Opener.

Through five events, the Red Hawks are first with 43 points, clipping second place Vassar, who has 42.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Griffith notched an AARTFC Outdoor Regional qualifying mark in the shot put. The senior threw 15.09m on his second throw and registered the lone mark over 15m on the day. He won by .52m over his closest competitor.
Dayon led a 1-2-3 finish in the javelin, throwing 51.39m and qualifying for Regionals in the process. MOHAMMED ABDALLAH was second with 45.87m, while LEONARDO PALESCANDOLO was third with 42.56m.
KAMAL KHAN was the lone runner of the day, taking fifth in the 5,000-meter with a time of 16:04.14. RANDY WORTHINGTON joined Griffith in the shot put, placing sixth with a distance of 11.52m.
