Men's Track & Field Tallies Four All-NJAC Honors

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University men's track & field notched All-New Jersey Athletic Conference accolades in four events it was announced Friday.

JOHN GRIFFITH tallied Second Team honors in the shot put and hammer throw, as BECK DEENY and JABEZ THOMAS were Honorable Mention in the triple jump and long jump, respectively.

A two-time NJAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year, Griffith ups his outdoor total to nine All-NJAC nods during his tenure. He is a four-time honoree in the shot put, earning Second Team laurels with a distance of 15.49m at last week's NJAC Championship. The senior was one of two to throw over 15.0m, and the 15.49m heave marked a season-best.

Griffith notched his second consecutive Second Team All-NJAC honor in the hammer throw. The Saddle Brook, NJ native hit 49.88m on his second attempt after throwing 48.21m on his opening try. He closed out the by hitting 48.95m and outlasted third place by just under 2.0m. Griffith hit a personal best in the hammer in late April at the Lions Invite, reaching 50.81m.

Deeny tallies his first All-NJAC laurel after finishing third in the triple jump at the NJAC Championships. He reached a personal best of 13.86m on his second try, holding off fourth place by .14m. The junior missed second place by a mere .01. During the indoor season, he crossed 14.0m for the first time, leaping 14.06m at the AARTFC Indoor Championships.

An All-American in the triple jump during the indoor season, Thomas collects his second straight All-NJAC honor and first in the long jump. Competing for just the second time during the outdoor campaign, the junior took third place with a distance of 6.56m. He edged teammate KEYSHAWN DIXON, who was fourth with a mark of 6.51m.
