Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State University field hockey team is back at home and tries to pick up their sixth consecutive win as they host nationally ranked #24 Stevens on Wednesday night

LAST TIME OUT
Montclair went on the road and blanked Gwynedd Mercy for their sixth consecutive win. The Red Hawks opened the game with five consecutive shots over the opening 10 minutes before they broke the scoring open shortly after. KELLY WESTERVELT played a pass in on a penalty corner to Maisto, who shedded a defender and sent a shot past another into the back of the cage. Two minutes later, Surma put a penalty corner into SADIE EICHLIN, who had a shot blocked but the resulting loose ball found Maisto, who capitalized to double the advantage.  The Red Hawks continued their offensive push, recording a pair of shots spanning the remainder of the first quarter and beginning of the second before they added a third goal in the 26th minute. TORI SUTERA intercepted a clearing attempt from the Griffins. She sent a pass to KYLIE COMPTON, who found Bloom right in front of the goalkeeper. Bloom slipped a pass to Surma who recorded her first goal of the afternoon. Montclair tallied their fourth goal of the afternoon in the 42nd minute, as Sutera collected the ball along the near side of goal and played a pass across to Surma, who tucked a shot into the cage. Gwynedd Mercy recorded three shots in the final stanza, including two that had to be saved by REBECCA ARMSTRONG, but could not get on the scoresheet as the Red Hawks sealed the victory.

SCOUTING STEVENS
The Ducks come into the game with a 5-2 record and are the #24 team in Division III Field Hockey according to the Nationally Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA). Their last time out, they defeated Eastern 2-1 this past Friday. In 2023, Stevens posted a 17-3 season and were crowned MAC Freedom Champions after a 1-0 win against DeSales. In the NCAA Tournament, they fell in the first round to Cortland, 3-1.

SERIES HISTORY
Montclair and Stevens meet for the 16^th time in history. The Red Hawks have owned this series, putting together a career record of 13-2 against the Ducks.

LAST MEETING
Last season, Stevens got the better of Montclair when they won a 3-2 overtime thriller at home on September 27, 2023.
