LAST TIME OUT
Montclair honored its four seniors for Senior Night before playing Stockton to a 0-0 draw on Saturday. The Red Hawks (12-1-4, 5-1-2 NJAC) looked to break the scoring open early, as
DANNY TOBON made a break towards the end line and slotted a low shot to the near post that was collected by the keeper in the seventh minute. Stockton's first attempt of the night came in the 18th minute, a shot that sailed wide right of the frame. Montclair's best opportunity of the half came shortly after, as the Ospreys cleared the ball following a corner kick from the near side, with the ball finding the feet of a charging
KENET LOPEZ outside of the box. The midfielder stepped into a right-footed rocket that had to be parried over the bar by Stockton's keeper. Over the final 25 minutes of the half, the two sides combined for three shots to keep the contest level at the break. On a throw-in from
THOMAS PUGLIESE in the fifth minute of the second stanza,
TOMAS MONTEIRO flicked a header towards goal that had to be collected by the Ospreys. Shortly after,
JACKSON PERATA tallied a shot on goal following a sequence in the box off a corner kick. The Red Hawks generated another scoring opportunity off a corner in the 67th minute, as a header from
SEBASTIAN LAPCZYNSKI towards the back post was parried out of play. Stockton's best chance of the night came three minutes after, as a centering pass from the near edge of the box skipped across frame and was immediately flicked towards goal, with
PIERRE SOUMEILLANT coming up with a crucial stop to knock the ball away. Monteiro and
LOGAN NENO recorded shots on goal as the game came to a close, with neither side finding the back of the net for a hard-fought draw.

SCOUTING RUTGERS-CAMDEN
The Scarlet Raptors enter the final contest of the regular season in fifth place in the standings and are locked into the playoffs with 13 points on a 4-3-1 NJAC record and are 7-7-3 overall this season. They are coming off a loss on Saturday at Kean (2-1), which pushed them out of contention for the regular-season championship, but they are still in the running to host a quarterfinal matchup. In 2024, Rutgers-Camden finished 9-7-5 and 4-2-3 in conference play to qualify for the NJAC Tournament. They bounced Rutgers-Newark in the first round, 1-0, but fell to the eventual champion Rowan, 1-0, in the semifinals. According to the 2025 NJAC Preseason Poll, the Scarlet Raptors were predicted to place fourth this season.
SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks and the Scarlet Raptors enter matchup number 51 in their long-standing conference rivalry. Montclair is ahead of the series at 30-12-8.
LAST MEETING
These two programs met last season on October 30, where the game ended tied at 1-1.
PLAYOFF SCENARIOS
The NJAC Regular-Season Championship is well within Montclair's grasp, and the formula is simple. A win for Montclair will crown them regular-season champions and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Should they tie, they would need a Stockton loss or tie to stay atop.
Stockton takes the title with a win against Kean and a Montclair State loss or tie, a tie and a Montclair State loss, or a loss and a Montclair State and Rowan loss.
Rowan needs a lot of help to take the top seed and regular-season banner. They need a win and a Montclair State and Stockton loss.
All of these scenarios show that the Red Hawks are locked into one of the top three seeds and will either see a first-round bye or will host a quarterfinal matchup.
UP NEXT
Montclair State University will wait to see how seeding for the NJAC Tournament shakes out. Their next date, time, and opponent will be determined after Wednesday's NJAC slate.
