Pitman, NJ – The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) announced on Monday afternoon that four Montclair State University student-athletes earned NJAC Weekly honors for their performances during the week of November 3–9.
ROGER RUBINETTI was once again named NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week for football. Women's basketball swept two of the awards, as
ALYSSA CRAIGWELL was tabbed Player of the Week, while
ALEXIS STROLLO earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Rounding out the selections was
MASON THEAR from men's basketball, who was recognized as Rookie of the Week.
Rubinetti delivered a spectacular performance to help Montclair State secure a thrilling 30–27 victory over TCNJ on Saturday. The senior kicker was perfect on the day, converting all three field goal attempts—including a game-winner from 37 yards out with less than a minute remaining—and adding an extra point. He also punted three times for 117 yards (long of 44) and kicked off seven times for 343 yards, averaging 49 yards per kick. Rubinetti even made a crucial tackle on special teams to prevent a potential touchdown.
Craigwell picked up right where she left off last season, leading Montclair State to a 62–56 season-opening victory over Albright on Friday. The sophomore standout shot 9-for-14 from the field, finishing with 18 points, six rebounds, seven steals, and a block.
Strollo was equally impressive on both ends of the floor in the Red Hawks' opener. She helped anchor a defense that forced 33 turnovers, recording a team-high three blocks along with two steals, 17 points, and three rebounds.
Thear made a statement in his collegiate debut, helping Montclair State earn a 97–65 win over Dickinson on Saturday. The freshman guard posted 16 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists in the victory.
Rubinetti's selection marks his third NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week honor this season. Craigwell collected her second career Player of the Week recognition and ninth overall weekly conference award, having previously tied a program record with seven Rookie of the Week honors. Strollo and Thear each earned their first career NJAC weekly honors, with Strollo becoming the first-ever recipient of the NJAC's new Defensive Player of the Week award.
