Gettysburg, PA – The Montclair State University men's swimming & diving team opened the first day of competition at the Gettysburg Invite on Friday evening.

The Red Hawks amassed 166 points, ranking third among the field of six.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Montclair opened the night with a fifth place mark in the 200 free relay, as BOBBY FREECE, MAX SMILEVSKI, PETER JARZAB, and MICHAEL WOJCIECHOWICZ notched a time of 1:25.02.
• VINCENT TERZO clocked in with a fourth place mark of 4:43.69 in the 500 free, with MICHAEL SALVATORI collecting the highest individual finish of the night for the Red Hawks in the 200 IM with a second place time of 1:54.35.
• In the 50 free, Freece tallied a time of 21.25 to rank fourth in the event, with Jarzab close behind in seventh at 21.45.
• Salvatori, Matthew Dettlinger, Jarzab, and Freece combined for a mark of 3:27.40 in the 400 medley relay, placing fourth.

INSIDE THE RESULTS

• Through one day of competition, Montclair sits third among the field, trailing Gettysburg (353 points) and Shippensburg (181.5 points). 
• They rank ahead of Dickinson (159.5 points), Scranton (149 points), and Messiah (40 points).

The Red Hawks will compete in two sessions to wrap up competition at the Gettysburg Invite on Saturday, December 6. The morning session will start at 9:30 AM, with the evening kicking off at 5:30 PM.
