Men’s Indoor Track & Field Has Strong Showing at NYU DIII Invite

New York, NY- The Montclair State University Men's Indoor Track and Field team saw strong showings from their student-athletes when they competed at the NYU DIII Invite on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The headliner performances for the Red Hawks came from HIVEN BIFFOT, who notched regional qualifying marks in the triple jump and the high jump. He won the triple jump event with a mark of 14.35m (47' 1") and placed third overall in the high jump with a mark of 1.95m (6' 4.75").
  • In the triple jump, the Red Hawks also saw top-five and season-best performances from JABEZ THOMAS and BECK DEENY. Thomas posted a jump of 14.27m (46' 10") to finish in second while Deeny notched a 14.00m (45' 11.25") jump for fourth place.
  • On the track, KYESHAUN SYLVESTER notched a season-best time in the 400-meter dash when he clocked a 50.81. That was good for a fourth-place finish.
  • ELIAS HANLEY clocked a season-best time in the 200-meter dash. He finished seventh in the field with a time of 22.83.
 
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • Biffot's triple jump mark currently stands as the best in the NJAC and Metro Region and is the 12th-best mark in all of Division III. Thomas' is the third-best mark in the NJAC and Metro Region while also marking 16th best in Division III. Deeny's is fifth best in the NJAC, eighth best in the Metro Region, and 42nd best in Division III. Biffot also is tied for the second-best mark in the NJAC and Metro Region in the high jump.
  • Sylvester's time currently ranks top-20 in the region while Hanley's is top-25.

  • "Feels like we are getting closer to the team we believe we can be. I was very proud of how we performed after a rocky start to the day. Excited to tune up and compete at NJACs next weekend!" Head Coach Ian Carter.
 
UP NEXT
  • Montclair State University now heads into the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships with the two-day event starting on Saturday, February 22.
