Three More Records Fall for Men’s Swimming & Diving on Final Day of NJAC Championships

Hampden, Virginia – The Montclair State Men's Swimming & Diving team saw three more program records fall as the Red Hawks concluded the 2025 NJAC Championships on Sunday.

How It Happened
  • MICHAEL SALVATORI set his fourth individual record of the championships, clocking a 200-backstroke time of 1:51.89 during the preliminary heats. He later competed in the "A" final, finishing sixth with a time of 1:52.23. His record-breaking performance surpassed James Singewald's 1:53.07 mark from 2017.
  • Two additional records fell during the 400-freestyle relay. BOBBY FREECE led off with a 100-free time of 45.88 before teaming up with LUCAS GOMES, MICHAEL WOJCIECHOWICZ, and PETER JARZAB to set a team record of 3:05.04. The relay squad placed sixth in the event.
  • Five other Red Hawks competed in the 200-backstroke finals. In the "B" final, RYAN KAPPES (1:53.05) placed 10th, while DENNIS DELARGY (1:56.87) finished 15th. In the "C" final, ANDREW PEARCE (1:57.95) took 18th, followed by ANTHONY FERRARO (2:01.15) in 21st and DARREN ROCKWELL (2:03.35) in 24th.
  • In the 200-breaststroke, BRANDON DO led the way for Montclair, finishing 13th with a time of 2:07.07. MATT DETTLINGER was the only other Red Hawk in the event, placing 24th with a time of 2:12.15.
  • Freece also paced Montclair in the 100-free individual event, placing 13th with a time of 46.33. Wojciechowicz and Gomes swam in the "C" final, with Wojciechowicz finishing 22nd (47.33) and Gomes close behind in 23rd (47.35).
  • VINCENT TERZO was Montclair's lone competitor in the 1650-free, securing a 12th-place finish with a time of 16:33.04.
  • In the 200-butterfly, Jarzab recorded Montclair's best finish, placing 10th with a time of 1:54.03. ADRIAN GONZALEZ (1:56.01) and MASON WOODS (1:57.05) followed in 13th and 14th place, respectively. In the "C" final, JARED GAYNOR (2:01.85) finished 22nd, with Pearce (2:02.48) right behind in 23rd.
  • Montclair finished seventh overall with a team score of 592 points.

MICHAEL SALVATORI, who earned an NCAA "B" cut time in the 400 IM, will compete in the NCAA Division III Championship meet, scheduled for March 19-22 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
