New Orleans, LA — The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced Wednesday evening that Montclair State University's HIVEN BIFFOT and JABEZ THOMAS have both notched All-Metro Region honors for the 2025 outdoor season.
Biffot, a freshman, and Thomas, a senior, received the recognition for their performances in the triple jump.
Biffot claimed the top spot in the region with a standout performance at the Widener Final Qualifier on May 12. He recorded a remarkable jump of 15.34 meters (50' 4"), setting a new school record. The mark ranks first in the Metro Region and second nationally. This outdoor accolade adds to Biffot's impressive resume, which includes All-Metro Region honors during the indoor season and recognition as the All-Metro Region Rookie of the Year.
Thomas was not far behind. He earned his All-Metro recognition early in the season at the Danny Curran Invitational, hosted by Widener University on March 28, with a jump of 14.98 meters (49' 1.75"). He also captured the NJAC Championship title this year with a mark of 14.73 meters (48' 4"). Thomas's 14.98-meter leap ranks third in the region and seventh in the nation. This is his second career All-Metro Region honor, having previously earned the distinction in 2023.
Both athletes are set to compete in the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, May 24. The triple jump event will take place at 1:45 p.m. at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
