Greenwood, IN – As announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) organization, as a part of their "at-large" sports selections, the Montclair State University women's lacrosse team saw three of its student-athletes get honored to the Academic All-District list on Tuesday afternoon.
The Academic All-District® At-Large Team, selected annually by CSC, honors the nation's top student-athletes who excel academically and athletically. The CSC Academic All-America® program recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA. The at-large selections honor the following sports; Men's Fencing, Men's Golf, Men's Gymnastics, Men's Ice Hockey, Men's Lacrosse, Men's Rifle, Men's Skiing, Men's Volleyball, Men's Water Polo, Men's Wrestling, Women's Beach Volleyball, Women's Bowling, Women's Crew/Rowing, Women's Fencing, Women's Field Hockey, Women's Golf, Women's Gymnastics, Women's Ice Hockey, Women's Lacrosse, Women's Rifle, Women's Skiing, and Women's Water Polo
In order to be eligible for the Academic All-District Team, a student must be a sophomore or higher in academic and athletic standing, maintain a 3.5 or higher GPA, and have either played in 90% of athletic contests or started 66% of athletic contests in the current season.
Representing Montclair State women's lacrosse on the 2025 Academic All-District Team are
JOELLE D'ANGELO,
JOEY GROTKOPF, and
CHELSEA STACK.
D'Angelo, a psychology major with a 3.77 GPA, appeared in all 16 games with seven starts and posted a career-best season. She totaled 16 goals and six assists for 22 points, while also recording 15 ground balls, 14 draw controls, and 12 caused turnovers. Her standout game came in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she recorded three goals, five draw controls, and four caused turnovers in a 16-9 win over UMass-Dartmouth.
Stack, a fashion merchandising major with a 3.70 GPA, earned Academic All-District honors for the second time. She also received
First Team All-NJAC and
Second Team All-IWLCA Boardwalk Region recognition in 2025. Stack started all 16 games and led the NJAC with 52 assists. She ranked fourth in the conference in points per game (4.80), finishing the season with 20 goals and a team-high 72 points. She also contributed 33 draw controls, 20 ground balls, and five caused turnovers. Her best outing came in the home opener against Mount Saint Vincent on February 26, where she racked up 10 points on two goals and eight assists in a 22-6 victory.
Grotkopf, also a psychology major, earned Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive year while carrying a 3.96 GPA. She started all 16 games in goal and was named
First Team All-NJAC in 2025. Grotkopf ranked third in the NJAC in total saves (113), fourth in goals-against average (11.31), and fifth in saves per game (7.53). Her top performance came in a home game against #11 TCNJ, where she recorded a season-high 15 saves.
Montclair State wrapped up the 2025 season with a
9-7 overall record and a
3-2 mark in NJAC play, earning a spot in the postseason.
