Montclair, NJ - The Montclair State University Athletics announced the hiring of five new athletic trainers for its Sports Medicine staff on Monday afternoon.
Marissa Gallo, Cassidy Muller, Bryan Hinchliffe, and Shelsea Araujo will all join the staff as Associate Athletic Trainers, with Shane O'Shea joining the group as an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
Gallo comes to Montclair serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at George Washington University for over four years. During her time at George Washington, Gallo served as the athletic trainer for Women's Volleyball, Cross Country, Women's Rowing, and Women's Tennis. Prior to her stop in Washington, D.C., she worked as a Clinical Outreach Athletic Trainer for Professional Physical Therapy - Long Island, serving the Sacred Heart Academy Athletics Department. Gallo was a Graduate Assistant at St. John's University and worked with Women's Volleyball, Men's & Women's Fencing, and Men's Tennis.
She will work with Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Women's Lacrosse, and Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field at Montclair.
Muller will remain at Montclair after serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the Red Hawks since 2023. During her time at Montclair, she served as an Athletic Trainer for Football. Prior to Montclair, she served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Caldwell University for Women's Lacrosse, Volleyball, and Acrobatics/Tumbling. In 2019, Muller served as a Training and Medical Summer Intern with the Baltimore Ravens.
She will work with Football, Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving, and Women's Flag Football with the Red Hawks.
Hinchliffe joins the department after serving as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Cornell University for over two years. During his time at Cornell, he served as the athletic trainer for Softball, Sprint Football, Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Polo, Women's Equestrian, Women's Swim & Dive, and Women's Soccer. Prior to that, Hinchliffe served as an Athletic Trainer at Vassar College, working primarily with Men's and Women's Rugby, Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving, and Men's and Women's Track & Field. Before Vassar, Hinchliffe served as an Athletic Trainer at SUNY Fredonia for a year, working with Women's Soccer, Men's Basketball, and Softball while assisting with a few other programs.
He will work with Football, Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving, and Baseball at Montclair.
Araujo comes to Montclair after serving as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Kean University for two years. During her time at Kean, she served as the athletic trainer for Field Hockey, Men's Volleyball, and Men's Lacrosse. Araujo also has clinical experience with NJ Spine & Wellness, Westfield High School Athletics, and Seton Hall Preparatory School Athletics.
She will work with Field Hockey, Men's Basketball, and Bloomfield Softball.
O'Shea joins the Red Hawks after graduating from the University of Delaware with both a Bachelor's in Sports Health and Master's in Athletic Training. He spent five months with Montclair Athletics as a Clinical Immersion Student, assisting with various aspects of the Sports Medicine department. He also spent time as a Graduate Athletic Training Student at the Tower Hill School, the University of Delaware Football Camp, and GoCare at Abby Medical.
He will work with Bloomfield Men's Soccer, Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field, and Men's Lacrosse.
