Field Hockey Ready for 2025 With Release of Fall Schedule

Montclair, NJ — The Montclair State University field hockey team, led by head coach Eileen O'Reilly, is ready for an exciting 2025 season with the release of its official schedule.

The Red Hawks will compete in 17 games this fall, including eight at Sprague Field and nine on the road. Six of those contests will be against New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) opponents. Montclair will also be tested early and often, facing six teams that finished last season ranked in the Division III National Top 25 poll.

The season opens on Labor Day weekend with a home round-robin event, where Montclair will face SUNY Cortland on Friday, August 29, followed by a matchup against the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) on Sunday, August 31. The Red Hawks then head on the road for back-to-back contests against Franklin & Marshall (Saturday, September 6) and Vassar (Wednesday, September 10), before returning home to take on Messiah on Saturday, September 13.

Montclair continues its road swing with games at DeSales (Wednesday, September 17) and Muhlenberg (Saturday, September 20), ahead of a special Homecoming weekend at Sprague Field. The Red Hawks will host Christopher Newport on Saturday, September 27, and Washington and Lee on Sunday, September 28.

Conference play begins in October, with Montclair hosting Ramapo on Saturday, October 4. They will then welcome William Paterson (Wednesday, October 8), visit Stockton (Saturday, October 11), and return home to host TCNJ (Saturday, October 18).

The final stretch of the regular season includes four road games—two non-conference and two NJAC matchups. Montclair visits Union (Wednesday, October 22), Kean (Saturday, October 25), SUNY New Paltz (Wednesday, October 29), and Rowan (Saturday, November 1) to close out the regular slate.

The NJAC Tournament begins with the semifinals on Wednesday, November 5, and concludes with the championship game on Saturday, November 8. The tournament champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Montclair enters the 2025 campaign looking to build on a strong 2024 season, in which the Red Hawks went 13-6 overall, 4-2 in NJAC play, defeated two nationally ranked opponents, and finished third in the conference standings.
