Men’s Swimming & Diving Splits with Win Over Roger Williams & Defeat Against Coast Guard

New London, CT – The Montclair State Men's Swimming & Diving team (6-2) ended its regular season with a split in its final tri-meet of the season. The Red Hawks earned a 192-86 win against Rogers Williams (1-4), but fell to host Coast Guard (9-4), 173-107 on Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Diving kicked off the meet, where RYDER BALAY scored a 117.45 to place third in the one-meter event.
  • ANDREW PEARCE, MATT DETTLINGER, PETER JARZAB, and NICHOLAS KIPP teamed up for a third-place finish in the 200 medley relay. They clocked a team time of 1:39.67.
  • VINCENT TERZO outraced the field in the 1000 free with a time of 10:01.99. ALEX PASQUINI earned a third-place finish with a time of 10:27.17.
  • Pearce earned a top-three finish in the 100 back, touching the wall third with a time of 55.57.
  • Dettlinger earned himself a second-place finish in the 100 breast, finishing with a time of 59.96. Jarzab earned himself the same placement in the 200 fly, finishing at 1:57.34.
  • Balay came back for a second session of diving and earned a score of 114.82. He was the lone diver of that session.
  • MICHAEL SALVATORI got himself in the top three with a second-place finish in the 200 back (1:56.26).
  • Terzo added a second-place finish to his day in the 500 free when he clocked a 5:04.30. MASON WOODS finished right behind in third with a time of 5:04.53.
  • Jarzab notched another second-place finish in the meet with a time of 51.64 in the 100 fly.
  • Salvatori was the last individual winner for Montclair, outracing the competition in the 200 IM at 1:58.56.
  • Montclair rounded out the meet with two top-three finishes in the 200 free relay. MICHAEL WOJCIECHOWICZ, Jazab, MAX SMILEVSKI, and Terzo teamed up to win the event at 1:29.16. Kipp. Adrian Gozalez, MASON DRANCHAK, and Dettlinger mashed up for a third-place finish of 1:33.25.

UP NEXT
  • With the regular season slate done, Montclair State University prepares for the NJAC Championships down at the Hampden Aquaplex in Hampden, VA. The first meet is set for Thursday, February 12, at 6:00 p.m.
