PREVIEW | Women’s Swimming & Diving at NJAC Championships (Day One)

Montclair, NJ – It is go time for the Montclair State University women's swimming and diving team as it enters day one of the NJAC Championships on Thursday evening.

 

MEET INFO

The meet will be held in Hampden, Virginia, at the Hampden Aquaplex with only one opening session beginning at 6:00 pm. Live coverage of the event can be found at montclairathletics.com

 

LAST TIME OUT

Montclair capped off the regular season with a tri-meet split, defeating Rogers Williams by a score of 226-60 and falling to Coast Guard, 158-34. AUDREY HITCHENS and OLIVIA SALMONS kicked off the meet in the one-meter dive. Hitchens placed second with a score of 187.05, with Salmons finishing right behind in third, with a score of 147.30. In the 200 medley relay, the quartet of ABBY PANZARELLAPENELOPE CURRANMADELINE ROGERS, and CATTY GEYER finished with a team time of 1:56.05. AMELIA FANNING notched second in the 1000 free with a time of 11:14.17. She was followed directly by LILY CONLON, who touched the wall third at 11:17.97. ROURKE PERALTA found a second-place finish in the 200 free, when she clocked a 1:59.86. Panzarella touched the wall third in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.90. MARIANNE TASSINARI earned herself a second-place finish in the 100 breast (1:10.94). MADELINE ROGERS finished with the same placement in the 200 fly (2:14.36). Peralta outraced the competition in the 50 free with a time of 24.55. In the second session of diving, Hitchens won the round with a score of 146.02, while Salmons placed second with a score of 138.37. Peralta notched her second win of the day when she clocked a 54.49 in the 100 free. Panzarella earned herself another top-three finish when she touched the wall second in the 200 back with a time of 2:16.86. Tassinari was victorious in the 200 breast, when she clocked a 2:31.29. Fanning finished third in the 500 free with a time of 5:29.32. Rogers and Tassinari wrapped up the individual events with second-place finishes. Rogers clocked a 59.74 in the 100 fly, while Tassinari finished with a time of 2:18.01 in the 200 IM. The Red Hawks wrapped up the day with two top-three finishes in the 200 free relay. The mash-up of Peralta, Rogers, RACHEL YUSHAN, and TESSA DEVONE led the way (1:41.96), while the team of Fanning, ANA VENLA SAGUILLO LEPPANEN, Tassinari, and Panzarella earned third (1:46.17).

Winner of the event last championship: Kean's Braelyn Wilson, Teagan Powell, Emma Bellars, & Laney Fenton (1:44.16)

 

Top time for Montclair this season: ABBY PANZARELLA, MARIANNE TASSINARI, MADELINE ROGERS, & TESSA DEVONE; 1:50.61 at Gettysburg Invite on December 5-6.

 

Top time in the NJAC this season: Rowan with a time of 1:38.98 against Swarthmore on December 5.

 

800 FREE RELAY

 

How Montclair did last season at the NJAC Championships: Fourth place among 10 teams; 7:48.19 (MARIANNE TASSINARI, CATTY GEYER, Julianna Skopp-Cardillo, & JULIE TIEDEMANN).

 

Winner of the event last championship: Salisbury's Sadie Herbert, Rachel Rickabaugh, Jenna Krawlzik, & Sydney McCallie (7:39.14)

 

Top time for Montclair this season: ROURKE PERALTA, MARIANNE TASSINARI, MADDY WISHNOW, & CATTY GEYER; 8:04.64 at Gettysburg Invite on December 5-6.

 

Top time in the NJAC this season: Salisbury's Addi Wood, Olivia Polucha, Kira Brown, & Sadie Herbert; 7:46.69 at the Arena Yellow Jacket Invitational on November 21-23.   

 

 

NEXT TIME OUT

Day two of the NJAC Championships will begin with the two-day sessions. The trial session is set for a 9:30 am start, with the final session beginning at 5:30 pm.
