Philadelphia, PA- The second and final day for the 2026 NJAC Championships for the Montclair State University men's indoor track and field team was highlighted by the performance of sophomore
JAYSON ELLIS, who became the first 60-meter medalist in program history during the event on Friday afternoon. The Red Hawks finished seventh out of nine teams with 35 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ellis qualified for the finals last Saturday and jumped up two spots from the preliminary round to finish third and earn a bronze medal in the event with a time of 6.94. His classmate, JAHMIR BEAL, also qualified for the finals and placed fifth with a time of 6.95.
- Beal was also the lone member in the top 10 of the 200-meter dash, placing ninth with a time of 22.17.
- In the weight throw, Montclair saw three top 10 finishes with Benjamin Siegel leading the way in the fifth. He threw for a distance of 14.56m (47' 9.25"). NEO BERNABE notched ninth (12.68m/41' 7.25"), and JAYDEN JENKINS placed tenth (12.26m/40' 2.75").
- RONALD INGLETON and GAVIN CASELLA each earned ninth place in their respective events. Ingleton's was in the triple jump, where he jumped 13.21m (43' 4.25"), while Casella clocked a 9:39.38 in the 3000-meter run.
- The meet was capped off by a seventh-place finish in the 4x400 relay. The quartet of JESSE BAIDOO, ELIAS HANLEY, JAHMIR BEAL, and DANIEL MCCARTHY teamed up to clock a time of 3:38.66.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
- Ellis became the first sprinter in Montclair history to earn a 60-meter medal and the first short sprinter to hit the podium since 2009.
