LAST TIME OUT
Montclair bested Kean on the road, 19-0, on Monday. Kean started with the ball and stuffed on the first drive, which included an 11-yard tackle for a loss from
BRI CARTER. A short punt started Montclair on the Kean 33. Bell hit
GIANNAMARIE GREENHALGH for an eight-yard gain before ripping off a 14-yard scamper. On third and goal, Bell found Greenhalgh for an eight-yard score and gave Montclair a 7-0 lead after converting the extra point. The Cougars were forced to punt again and did so to
RHIANNA BUENO, who was just four yards away from a punt return touchdown, but picked up 31 on the return. Bell kept it herself on the first play and found the endzone on a four-yard touchdown, and gave the Red Hawks a 13-0 lead. Greenhalgh created an 18-yard punt return to the MSU 28 to begin the second quarter. The Cougars intercepted a pass from Bell on the second play of the drive and set themselves up with excellent field position at the MSU 19. Carter denied Kean points with two sacks on the drive that forced a turnover on downs. The last Red Hawk drive of the half was once again set up by another Bueno punt return, this time of 30 yards. After a few incompletions, Bell ran for 14 yards, and a holding penalty on fourth down moved the chains. Montclair eventually got down to the three-yard line, where Bell punched in another rushing touchdown. Montclair took a 19-0 lead into the half. Bell was intercepted again on the first Red Hawks' drive, and the Cougars started on the MSU 25. They put together their best chance to score, getting all the way down to the one-yard line. On fourth down, they came up just short as Carter once again came through, stopping the ball carrier just shy of the endzone. Montclair burned 7:40 of the third quarter to take possession into the fourth, but were forced to punt.
SERENITY MUHAMMED intercepted the ball and took it to the Kean 20. The Cougars defense was able to hold the Red Hawks off the scoreboard and forced a turnover on downs. Montclair eventually held strong and walked away with the 19-0 win.
