Four Event Wins Pace Men's Track & Field at Osprey Open

Galloway, NJ Fueled by four event wins, the Montclair State University Men's Track & Field team competed at the Osprey Open on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Red Hawks were led by an event win from JAYSON ELLIS, who posted a career-best time of 10.70 seconds in the 100m to take first place. JAHMIR BEAL was close behind in second with a time of 10.76 seconds.
  • Montclair saw strong performances in the field events, highlighted by a career day from BRYAN ALVAREZ, who won the shot put with a personal-best mark of 14.79m. There were two more Red Hawks in the top five, as JABRI JOSEPH (13.76m) and BENJAMIN SIESEL (13.70m) placed third and fourth with career-best marks.
  • Joseph took the discus throw with a personal-best mark of 39.58m, with Alvarez slotting in at second with a mark of 38.96m, also a career-best. Siesel recorded a top five finish at 37.88m, sitting fourth.
  • ELIAS HANLEY ranked second in the long jump at 6.93m, a season-best that ranks 20th in Division III as a regional qualifier. Sheldon Ageymang was right behind in third at 6.89m, sitting 26th across Division III also as a regional qualifier.
  • Back on the track, the 4x100 relay team of Agyemang, Beal, Hanley, and Ellis took first in the event with a time of 41.62 seconds. The time ranks second in program history. 
  • JESSE BAIDOO clocked a time of 58.78 seconds in the 400m hurdles to place third, with JOSEPH HADRICK ranking sixth at 1:03.63. AOSUUTA WYNN tallied a top five finish in the 200m at 22.61 seconds.
INSIDE THE RESULTS
  • The 100m times for Ellis and Beal were regional qualifiers, ranking 27th and 42nd in Division III, respectively. Beal's time ranks second in program history in the event.
  • NEO BERNABE (11.52m) and RANDY WORTHINGTON (11.33m) notched season-bests in the shot put. Bernabe (36.75m), Worthington (31.05m), and Nicolas Pietruszko (29.91m) tallied career-bests in the discus throw.
  • In the 1500m, GAVIN CASELLA clocked a career-best 4:24.31.

The Red Hawks will participate in the three-day TCNJ Invitational and Multi Meet, kicking off on Thursday, April 9 at 12:00 PM from Ewing, NJ.
