Pomona, NJ - The Montclair State University men's lacrosse team suffered its first defeat of the 2002 campaign, dropping a 10-7 decision at Richard Stockton College tonight.
Montclair is now 3-1 overall and 1-1 in Knickerbocker Lacrosse Conference play, while Stockton improves to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in KLC action.
Stockton led throughout the contest, forging a 5-3 halftime lead before adding two goals in the third quarter for a 7-3 advantage. MSU then oustcored RSC, 4-3, in the last 15 minutes while coming up short for the first time since a 9-7 loss to Cabrini in the 2001 season finale. Marc McKinney paced the host Ospreys with five goals on Saturday evening, while Doug Minuer posted 17 saves for Stockton.
KEVIN GONDRES (Fair Lawn, NJ) led the Red Hawks with three goals and two assists, while
MATT VON KLEMPERER (Summit, NJ) tallied two goals and an assist and
CHRIS MEIXNER (Hamburg, NJ) scored two goals.
VINNY DEGENNARO (Fair Lawn, NJ) finished with 10 saves for Montclair.
