CHRIS MEIXNER (Hamburg, NJ/Vernon) scored four times and assisted on another goal as Montclair State opened its 2002 season with a 10-5 victory over Drew University in NCAA Division III Lacrosse action on Thursday afternoon.

MATT VON KLEMPERER (Summit, NJ/Summit) had three assists for the Red Hawks (1-0), who jumped out to a 3-0 lead late in the first period. ERIC SIEGEL (Culver City, CA/Windward) had three goals for the Rangers (0-2), who dropped their second straight game.
DAVE GONDRES (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) put the Red Hawks on the scoreboard 34 seconds into the contest as he beat Drew goalkeeper MIKE LITMAN (Ellicott City, MD/St. James).
SEAN PEKARSKY (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) made it 2-0 game just over four minutes later and the lead grew to 3-0 as
JEFF SOWA (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) scored with 57 seconds left in the period.
After Drew got a goal late in the first quarter, Montclair scored four straight times in the second to take a 7-1 advantage. Meixner tallied a pair of goals around scored by
NICK BOMBADIER (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and
KEVIN GONDRES (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn).
VINNY DEGENNARO (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) made 12 saves for Montclair State, which outshot Drew, 38-21. Litman and JEREMY BANK (Old Bethpage, NY/Plainview) combined for 11 saves for the Rangers, who got two assists from DAVE FERRUGGIA (Green Brook, NJ/Delbarton).
