SEAN PEKARSKY (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) scored five goals and added an assist as Montclair State defeated SUNY-Farmingdale, 14-11 in NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse action at Sprague Field on Saturday afternoon.
NICK BOMBADIER (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) had four goals and an assist for the Red Hawks (8-2), who have won four straight. Matthew Baglietto (Lynbrook HS) had six goals for the Rams (4-6), who have dropped two in a row.
The Red Hawks led 6-4 at halftime and extended their lead to 8-4 early in the second half as Bombardier and
CHRIS MEIXNER (Hamburg, NJ/Vernon) each scored. But the Rams answered with two straight goals by Baglietto in a 30-second span to make the score 9-6 with 7:30 to play in the third period. Pekarsky then scored two goals and Bombardier added his fourth of the game over the next five minutes to help MSU to an 11-8 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
John O'Brien (Hicksville HS) scored 3:10 into the fourth to cut the lead to 11-9, but Montclair ran off three straight scores to put the game away.
KEVIN GONDRES (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn), Meixner and Pekarsky each scored in the spurt.
VINNY DEGENNARO (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) made 16 saves for Montclair State, which outshot Farmingdale, 39-31. Ryan Fink (Happauge) had eight saves and Anthony Sheridan (Mepham) stopped seven for the Rams.
