BRIAN SHADIACK (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) scored 25 seconds apart in the fourth quarter as Montclair State topped Richard Stockton, 10-8 in Knickerbocker Conference Men's Lacrosse action at Sprague Field on Saturday afternoon.
Freshman attack
RICH DOYEN (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) had three goals for the Red Hawks (4-2, 2-0 KLC), who have won three straight. Jeff Martin (Lincoln Park, NJ/Boonton) and James Kole (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) each had two goals for the Ospreys (2-2, 0-1 KLC), who fought back from an early five-goal deficit.
Trailing 8-5 with 13:05 to play in the game, Stockton tied the contest scoring three times, including twice in a 17-second span. Martin scored to cut the MSU to 8-6 and Kole made it a one-goal game as he notched his second with 11:44 to play. Anthony Severino (Edison, NJ/St. Joseph) then tied the game at 8-8, beating MSU goalkeeper
VINNY DEGENNARO (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) on a bouncing shot from the left side.
However, Montclair, which once led 6-1 in early in the second quarter, responded as Pekarsky whipped a shot from the far right wing past Kyle Witty (Montville, NJ/Montville) to regain the lead for the Red Hawks. Shadiack then extended the lead 25 seconds later as he beat Witty from the top of the circle.
Pekarsky had two goals for the Red Hawks, who were outshot in the game, 29-28, including 19-10 in the second half.
KEVIN GONDRES (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) and Shadiack each had two assists for MSU, which scored three times on the man-up advantage.
DeGennaro made 10 saves for MSU, while Witty had six for the Ospreys. Martin collected two assists in a losing effort for Richard Stockton.
