RICH DOYEN (Basking Ridge, NJ/Ridge) scored three times as the Montclair State men's lacrosse team won its fourth straight with a 9-4 victory at SUNY Farmingdale on Saturday afternoon.
SEAN PEKARSKY (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) and
KEVIN GONDRES (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) each added two goals for the Red Hawks, who snapped a halftime tie with four goals in the third period.
The Red Hawks (8-3) trailed 2-1 in the second period when Gondres scored off an assist from Doyen with three seconds to play before halftime.
MSU then broke open the contest in the third as Gondres gave Montclair the lead with his second goal of the contest at the 5:04 mark.
JOHN DELLA PESCA (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) followed with an unassisted tally with 7:56 left in the quarter and Pekarsky made it 6-3 at 9:50 of the period with his second tally of the game. Doyen then capped off the period with his second goal as MSU built a 7-3 lead heading into the fourth.
BRIAN SHADIACK (Clifton, NJ/Clifton), who was 13-of-17 on faceoff attempts in the contest, scored two minutes into the fourth to extend the lead to 8-3 and after a Farmingdale goal, Doyen collected the hat trick as he scored with 5:30 to play in the game.
VINNY DEGENNARO (Fair Lawn, NJ/Fair Lawn) stopped 17 of 21 shots for Montclair State, which outshot Farmingdale, 26-24 in the contest.
ANTHONY MOSCA (Clifton, NJ/Clifton) had two assists.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Saturday, April 20th as they travel to Kings Point to take on the Mariners. It is the final Knickerbocker Conference game for MSU, which currently sits in second place in the league at 5-1. Last year, MSU topped USMMA, 9-7, as Gondres and Pekarsky each scored three times in the game.
