NICK MARTINEZ drove in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning and
JUSTIN BATES scored on a wild pitch one inning later as Montclair State got past Neumann University 6-2 at Maplezone Sports Institute on Sunday afternoon.
Norton finished 3-for-4 with
CHRIS ROTH going 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Red Hawks improved to 11-4 on the season. John Schoelkopf was 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI for Neumann which dropped back to the .500 mark at 8-8.
The Knights took a three-run after two innings. Curt Yenchik had an infield single in the first that plated a run and Cody MacNair scored on a fielder's choice. Shoelkopf's RBI single in the second put the hosts up 3-0.
Montclair State tied the game in third.
IAN LYNCH singled to centerfield driving in
HAYDEN REYES with the first run.
ANDREW OLLWERTHER walked with the bases loaded to force in another and a
BRODY LABBE RBI on a fielder's choice knotted the game at 3-3.
Roth put MSU in front in the fourth with an RBI single to right field but Neumann tied the game in the sixth on a run-scoring single by Schoelkopf.
Montclair took the lead in the seventh. Roth singled with one out and Martinez followed with a double to left field giving the Red Hawks the lead. Montclair State then manufactured its final run in the eighth
JUSTIN BATES led off with a single and stole second with one out. Norton singled in the infield putting runners at the corners with Norton getting to second on a passed ball. After a strikeout, a wild pitch allowed Bates to come home with an insurance run.

CONNOR LINDSAY made that lead hole up with a 1-2-3 eighth inning before giving way to senior
AUSTIN MINTON, who wiggled out of a threat in the ninth for his fourth save of the year. Lindsay upped his record to 3-1 with two innings of scoreless relief.
BRIAN REISS went the first six innings allowing nine hits with four strikeouts and three walks.
The Red Hawks are back in action on Tuesday, March 27 with another road contest. MSU wiil be in Center Valley, PA taking on DeSales University at 3:30 pm.
