Auburndale, FL – The Montclair State baseball team's five-game winning streak was snapped on Friday as the Red Hawks fell to Fontbonne University, 11-3 at the RussMatt Invitational.
IAN LYNCH and Brode Labbe had two hits apiece for the Red Hawks (7-3), who suffered their first loss on the Florida trip. Montclair State closes out its RussMatt appearance on Friday, March 9 at 1:15 pm against Nebraska Wesleyan.
The Griffins (6-5) collected 20 hits in the game and led 7-0 after scoring four times in the third and three times in the fourth. Matt Tossick had a two-run single in the fourth. Montclair would get on the board in the fourth as Labbe scored on an error and the Red Hawks added a run in the fifth when
JUSTIN BATES scored on a wild pitch.
Fontbonne extended the lead back to 9-2 with a two-run sixth. Labbe's RBI single in the eighth cut the deficit to six however the Griffins tacked on two runs in the ninth for the final margin.
