Galloway, NJ – The Montclair State men's and women's outdoor track and field teams each sit in fifth place following the first day of the NJAC Championship Meet at Stockton University on Saturday.
Freshman
ANTHONY DIMAULO currently leads the men's decathlon following the first day of competition. DiMaulo posted 3,031 points through the first five events taking first place in three of them. He ran 6.37 seconds to capture the 100 meters and posted wins in the long jump (6.25 meters) and high jump (1.87 meters). He placed second in the shot put at 9.80 meters and ran 53.18 in the 400 meters for third.
Freshman
KELLY WECKSTEIN finished third in the 10,000 meters with a time of 40:51.19 with teammate
SAMANTHA NASH placing seventh overall clocking in at 42.48.15. For the men,
CONNOR MCGILLICK (35:22.83) and
PATRICK TUOHEY (35:24.20) were 11
th and 12
th, respectively.
DARRIN LEONARD advanced to the finals of the 400 meters with a time of 51.09 during the preliminaries.
SYHIM JACKSON and
AARON HAYWARD are also headed to the finals for the 100 meters.
MATTHEW CARMICHAEL posted a time of 10:08.61 to finish third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Senior
ROB MELILLO threw 53.84 meters for fourth in the javelin with
LENA BILOTTI taking fifth on the women's side at 35.73 meters.
JASON KUNZMAN went 4.10 meters in the pole vault for fifth and
HIROKI TSUTSUMI was eighth in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.09 meters.
SYLVIA ZAWISTOWSKA is in seventh place after the first four events of the heptathlon as she registered 1,691 points.
