Cross Country: Meet Day Preview - Highlander Challenge

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State cross country team heads to NJIT for the NJIT Highlander Challenge Saturday morning.

MEET INFO
The Highlander Challenge will begin at 11 am in Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. The Red Hawks will see teams spanning Division I, II, and III programs.

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks took ninth at NJAIAW Championship Meet last Saturday. The team totaled 229 team points and was led by junior KELLY WECKSTEIN. Weckstein took 15th overall with a time of 25:26.82.

REST OF THE PACK
Junior CHRISTIANA CAPRIO established a PR in the 6K run last week, notching a time of 25:58.5. Seniors EMILY ALBRIGHT and NATASHA SENATUS and rookie NICOLE DOWDY also scored points for the Red Hawks. Dowdy was competing in her first collegiate meet.

MEET HISTORY
At the 2019 Highlander Challenge, the Red Hawks took 10th as Weckstein tallied a 28th place time of 19:18.21. The then-sophomore was the second-highest Division III in the field of 252 overall runners.

UP NEXT
The Red Hawks will return to action next Sunday as they compete at the Golden Eagle Invitational hosted by St. Joseph's-Long Island.
