Red Hawks Takes on Cavaliers in Season Opener

Montclair, NJ – After getting rained out on Wednesday, the defending New Jersey Athletic Conference Champions, the Montclair State women's soccer team hosts Cabrini University Friday evening.

PRESEASON
After claiming the NJAC Championship this past spring, the Red Hawks were chosen second in the NJAC Coaches' Preseason Poll. They gained two first-place votes, while TCNJ claimed the top spot and earned the final eight first-place tallies.

Maria Hagan returns to the squad after gaining First Team All-Atlantic East Conference in 2019 and was third on the team with 17 points while Rebekah Cunningham was named the 2019 Atlantic East Rookie of the Year. Head Coach Ken Prothero is entering his 20th year at Cabrini and has posted a 189-128-38 mark at the helm. The Cavaliers were chosen first in the Atlantic East Conference Preseason Poll, gaining five first-place votes and 35 points overall.
 
LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks fell to Cabrini 2-0 in their last meeting on October 6, 2019. Goalkeeper LINDSAY FREEWALT made two saves in the setback, as the Cavaliers used two second half goals to claim the victory.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks hold a 2-1 advantage in the series. Prior to the last meeting in 2019, the Red Hawks earned 2-0 victories during both the 1999 and 2000 campaigns.
