Montclair, NJ – Freshman midfielder
AMER LUKOVIC of the No. 8 Montclair State men's soccer team was chosen as the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
In his first three games as a Red Hawk, Lukovic recorded four goals and two assists while taking a team-high 14 shots. Of his 14 shot attempts, seven went on target.
The Clifton, NJ native made his presence felt in his collegiate debut, notching a goal and an assist in a 6-1 victory over Centenary. Just 4:22 after halftime, he slid a ball across the box that teammate
JOSIAH CRAWFORD tapped in. Exactly seven minutes later, the roles were reversed, and Lukovic registered his first career goal.
On the first day of the Athey Cup against DeSales, Lukovic notched an assist on the game's opening goal. He made a defender miss at the top of the 18 before crossing a ball to the far post where teammate
IAN CHESNEY scored. He finished off the scoring on the game, taking advantage of a miscue by the Bulldog goalkeeper for a goal. The rookie closed out the week with a two-goal performance against host Washington College, highlighted a free-kick from 20 yards out that the goalkeeper barely moved on.
The Red Hawks return to the pitch Wednesday as they host Hunter College at 3 pm.
