Four from Men’s Soccer Tabbed United Soccer Coaches All-Region IV Selections

Kansas City, MO- Announced on Tuesday morning by the United Soccer Coaches organization, the Montclair State men's soccer team saw four of its student-athletes get tabbed as All-Region IV selections.

Leading the way for the Red Hawks were DANNY TOBON and PIERRE SOUMEILLANT, who were both First Team selections. SEBASTIAN LAPCZYNSKI and TOMAS MONTEIRO were both named to the Second Team.

Tobon was named First Team All-Region after an All-NJAC Honorable Mention accolade early this year. He recorded 12 goal contributions for the Red Hawk and started all 18 of his appearances while logging 1,039 minutes. In the senior's first year with the program after transferring in, he ranked second on the team with eight goals and finished tied for third in assists with four. Tobon contributed to his eighth-ranked NJAC goal total with a brace against Rhodes on August 31, while tallying a goal with a pair of assists against Worcester Polytechnic Institute on September 13. He recorded game-winning strikes against Manhattanville on September 7 and Rutgers-Newark on October 11.

Soumeillant earned First Team All-Region IV after leading Montclair in the back half of the season in goal en route to an NJAC Regular Season Championship. He compiled a 6-0-3 record as the Red Hawks' goalkeeper and garnered two shutouts on the year. He also averaged 1.22 goals against average and a .714 save percentage. Pierre made 29 saves on the year and became the first goalkeeper to have an assist for Montclair since 2018, with one in a win against DeSales.

Lapczynski earned Second Team honors to go along with his First Team All-NJAC status he earned in November. He led Montclair defenders in goals with five during the regular season. The sophomore started all 19 of his appearances, ranking second on the team with 1,580 minutes. His five goals are the most for the Montclair defender since IAN CHESNEY in 2022. Lapczynski is also a perfect five-for-five from the penalty spot as the leading taker for the Red Hawks this season. Defensively, he has contributed to all nine shutouts this season, logging 752 of a possible 810 minutes.

Monteiro adds Second Team accolades after becoming the eighth Red Hawk in program history to be named NJAC Rookie of the Year, the first since AMER LUKOVIC in 2021. The striker amassed nine goals and two assists across 915 minutes and 19 appearances, while making five starts. Within league play, Monteiro ranked second with 13 points, tallying six goals and a pair of braces. During a four-game stretch in October, the freshman totaled eight goal contributions, including the game-winning goal against Kean on October 1. Monteiro's 20 points are the most from a freshman for Montclair since Lukovic in 2021.

Montclair State concluded the season with a 12-2-5 overall record and a 5-1-3 mark in NJAC play, capturing its 12th NJAC Regular-Season Championship in the past 18 seasons. The Red Hawks were also featured in the United Soccer Coaches Division III National Poll eight times throughout the year.
