TOMAS MONTEIRO was named New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year to highlight eight All-NJAC selections for the Red Hawks, the conference announced Tuesday morning.
KEVIN CONTRERAS and SEBASTIAN LAPCZYNSKI garnered First Team honors, with Monteiro and CARLOS BEDOYA being named to the conference's second team. KENET LOPEZ, DANNY TOBON, JAKE WINCHOCK, and KENNETH NEVES all received Honorable Mention nominations to round out the group of eight for Montclair.
In addition to his Honorable Mention honors, Tobon earned the NJAC David Logar Leadership Award, which is presented annually to the player who best displays the attributes of leadership and courage. He is the 11th student-athlete in program history to earn the award.
Monteiro became the eighth Red Hawk in program history to be named NJAC Rookie of the Year, the first since AMER LUKOVIC in 2021. The striker amassed nine goals and two assists across 845 minutes and 18 appearances, while making five starts. Within league play, Monteiro ranked second with 13 points, tallying six goals and a pair of braces. During a four-game stretch in October, the freshman totaled eight goal contributions, including the game-winning goal against Kean on October 1. Monteiro's 20 points are the most from a freshman for Montclair since Lukovic in 2021.
Contreras collects his first All-NJAC honor after compiling four goals and five assists over 709 minutes and 18 appearances, while making a career-high 10 starts. The sophomore ranks second on the team in assists and third in goals, while being tied for the team-lead in game-winners with three. Contreras notched two performances with multiple goal contributions, tallying a goal and assist against Rutgers-Newark on October 11 and a pair of assists at Ramapo on October 22.Â
Lapczynski earned First Team honors after leading Montclair defenders in goals with five during the regular season. The sophomore started all 18 of his appearances, ranking second on the team with 1,490 minutes. His five goals are the most for the Montclair defender since IAN CHESNEY in 2022. Lapczynski is also a perfect five-for-five from the penalty spot as the leading taker for the Red Hawks this season. Defensively, he has contributed to all nine shutouts this season, logging 752 of a possible 810 minutes.
Bedoya makes the All-NJAC Second Team as a freshman after tallying a team-leading six assists, ranking seventh in the league. The defender amassed 1,150 minutes, starting all 15 of his appearances. Bedoya's first collegiate assist came on the game-winning goal against Swarthmore on September 5, with his other game-winning assist coming against Worcester Polytechnic Institute on September 13. Defensively, he contributed to eight shutouts for the Red Hawks, playing 648 of a possible 720 minutes during those contests.
Lopez earned All-NJAC Honorable Mention in his first year with the program after transferring in. The senior started all 18 of his appearances in the midfield, compiling three goals and a pair of assists across 1,216 minutes, ranking fourth on the team. Lopez scored the game-winning goal against Worcester Polytechnic Institute on September 13, and recorded a goal and assist against Rutgers-Newark on October 11.
Tobon was named All-NJAC Honorable Mention after recording 12 goal contributions for the Red Hawks, starting all 18 of his appearances while logging 1,039 minutes. In the senior's first year with the program after transferring in, he ranked second on the team with eight goals and finished tied for third in assists with four. Tobon contributed to his eighth-ranked NJAC goal total with a brace against Rhodes on August 31, while tallying a goal with a pair of assists against Worcester Polytechnic Institute on September 13. He recorded game-winning strikes against Manhattanville on September 7 and Rutgers-Newark on October 11.
Winchock received his first All-NJAC nod as an Honorable Mention after starting all 18 of his appearances, racking up 1,253 minutes to rank third on the team. The midfielder was tied for third on the team with four assists, including the assist on the game-winning goal against Manhattanville on September 7.Â
Neves collected an All-NJAC Honorable Mention selection after appearing in 14 contests along the back line for Montclair, making 13 starts and amassing 1,007 minutes. The defender contributed to eight shutouts for the Red Hawks, logging 603 of a possible 720 minutes. Neves notched his first collegiate goal against Rutgers-Newark on October 11.
The Red Hawks clinched their 12th NJAC Regular Season Championship over their last 18 seasons and are the top seed in the 2025 NJAC Tournament. Montclair will host the fourth-seeded TCNJ on Wednesday, November 5, with kickoff from MSU Soccer Park scheduled for 7:00 PM.
