Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team opens its 2022 campaign with a road contest at Vassar on Tuesday evening.

GAME INFO
The first face-off is scheduled for 6 pm in Poughkeepsie, NY. Live stats and video links are available on montclairathletics.com.

SCHEDULE
The Red Hawks open the 2022 season with three straight road contests before their home opener against Gwynedd Mercy on March 5. That kicks off four of five home affairs, including games against FDU-Florham (March 12), Misericordia (March 16), and Lycoming (March 19). After the CSAC schedule opens up with road games at Stockton (April 2) and Keystone (April 8), the Red Hawks will face CSAC newcomer Cairn on April 13. They close out the slate with home games against Rosemont on April 23 and defending CSAC Champions Kean on April 27.

PRESEASON RANKING
Montclair State was ranked third in the CSAC Preseason Poll, sliding in behind defending champs Kean and Stockton. Rosemont, Bryn Athyn, Keystone, and Cairn completed the seven-team poll.

2021 SEASON IN REVIEW
The team went 7-5 last season and posted a 4-2 mark in the CSAC. After dropping the first two games, they rebounded to win three straight. An overtime win over Neumann started the run, and they won four consecutive CSAC games towards the tail end of the year. TYLER MCCREERY had a banner day against Bryn Athyn, becoming the fourth student-athlete in program history with 10 points in a game. He posted two goals and eight assists and, in the process, became the newest member of the 100-point club.

TOP RETURNERS
The Red Hawks return a plethora of All-CSAC members, highlighted by defender WILSON SMITH, attackman TYLER MCCREERY, and midfielders JOE COVINO and CHRISTIAN BOYLE. All four were First Team All-CSAC selections, with the defense anchored by Smith, who racked up 26 caused turnovers and 69 ground balls. TYLER MCCREERY paced the offense with 22 goals and 33 assists, while Boyle tallied 20 goals and nine helpers. Other All-CSAC performers include MIKE MCCREERY, JACK GRECO, Tim Elefonte, and Matt Dansecs. Covino tallied 19 goals and five assists, while MIKE MCCREERY was second with 11 assists and added 14 goals. Greco was third on the club with 16 caused turnovers and 33 ground balls and forced four turnovers with six ground balls against Stockton on April 3. Elfonte contributed six caused turnovers and 10 ground balls from his short-stick midfield spot and forced a season-high two turnovers in the win over Neumann.
