Men's Lacrosse: Game Day Preview vs. Gwynedd Mercy

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team welcomes Gwynedd Mercy University to Sprague Field for their home-opener Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
On Wednesday afternoon, the Red Hawks were tripped up by nationally-ranked Ursinus 13-9. Montclair State hung around with the Bears for three quarters before Ursinus outscored MSU 5-1 over the final 15 minutes of play. CHRISTIAN BOYLE and MATTHEW HOLLAND tallied three goals as DAVID METZGER stopped 18 shots in goal.

SCOUTING THE GRIFFINS
Gwynedd Mercy enters the match with a 1-1 mark, falling to Albright in their opener on February 23 before knocking off Juniata College 16-8 on February 26. Jason Eide was named to the Atlantic East Weekly Honor Roll after notching 11 points over the two games.

LAST MEETING
In their only previous matchup, the Red Hawks downed the Griffins 18-4 on March 20, 2021. Leading by three at the half, the Red Hawks erupted for 13 goals in the second half, including nine goals in the third quarter. JOE COVINO, TYLER MCCREERY, and ROBERT BRENNAN netted three goals apiece as MATTHEW MCLAREN made six saves in 51:20 of action to earn the win.
