Softball: Game Day Preview vs. Rowan

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State softball team visits nationally-ranked Rowan University on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
On Tuesday, the Red Hawks (18-11, 2-6 NJAC) split with Rutgers-Camden. They won 10-2 in the opener before falling 4-1 in the nightcap. ALYSSA BOROZAN went 3-for-3 in the opener, while KAYLA COSENTINO knocked in three runs. KAYLA VOLANTE scattered three hits over five innings to earn her ninth win of the season.

SCOUTING THE PROFS
The Profs are 22-6 on the season and 7-1 within the NJAC. They had their 11-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday as they fell 3-2 in the opening game of a twinbill with TCNJ. Rowan rebounded in game two with an 11-1 win in six innings.

SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks are 58-68 all-time against Rowan and have dropped five consecutive meetings against their South Jersey foes. The Red Hawks' last victory came on March 31, 2018, when they won 8-2 and have not won in Glassboro since April 2, 2017.

LAST MEETING
Rowan notched a pair of victories on May 1, 2021, winning 8-1 and 3-2. ALYSSA BOROZAN walked with the bases loaded to drive in the only lone Red Hawk run in the first game before AMBER POWERS had a run-scoring groundout in the second game.
