Four From Softball Selected to All-NJAC Team

Pitman, NJ – As announced by the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) office on Friday morning, the Montclair State University softball team had four student-athletes named to the All-NJAC Team for the 2026 season.
 
SOPHIA ALONSO and JAYLA VASQUEZ were each named First Team selections, while CARLY MOCKENHAUPT and LIZ MULLEN earned Second Team honors.
 
Alonso started 36 of 37 games this season for the Red Hawks. In NJAC play, she batted .392 with 20 hits, two RBI, four doubles, one triple, 15 runs scored, and seven stolen bases. Defensively, she was perfect in the field with 20 putouts. Her totals in hits, runs scored, and stolen bases all ranked among the top 10 in the conference this season.
 
Vasquez appeared in 34 games with 28 starts during the 2026 campaign. In conference play, she hit .440 with 22 hits, 10 RBI, eight doubles, one home run, 17 runs scored, and five stolen bases. Her 17 runs scored and eight doubles both ranked among the top five in the NJAC, while her batting average and hit total each placed inside the conference's top 10.
 
Mockenhaupt served as the ace in the circle for the Red Hawks during conference play. Across nine starts, she posted a 6-3 record with a 1.11 ERA. She threw 57 innings, recorded 39 strikeouts, and totaled seven complete games along with three shutouts. Her ERA ranked third in the NJAC this season, while her strikeout total ranked sixth. Mockenhaupt was also named NJAC Pitcher of the Week on April 13.
 
Mullen concluded her career after starting 40 of 41 games for Montclair State this season. In NJAC action, she batted .333 with 18 hits, 18 RBI, two doubles, two home runs, nine runs scored, and four stolen bases. Her 18 RBI were tied for the third-highest total in the conference this season.
 
All four student-athletes earned the first All-NJAC selections of their careers.
 
The Red Hawks finished the 2026 season with a 26-15 overall record and an 11-7 mark in NJAC play. The team's 26 wins marked its best overall record since 2019.
