Men's Lacrosse: Game Day Preview vs. Stockton (CSAC Championship Game)

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State men's lacrosse team visits Stockton University in the CSAC Championship Game Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
On Tuesday evening, the Red Hawks (12-4) clipped Kean 12-11 in the CSAC Semifinals. TYLER MCCREERY collected nine points (three goals and six assists) and became the single-season leader in points. CHRISTIAN BOYLE tallied four goals, including the game-winner with over three minutes left. DAVID METZGER denied 12 shots to earn his 12th win of the season.
 
AWARD SEASON
WILSON SMITH was named the CSAC Defensive Player of the Year as the program placed 10 on the All-CSAC Team Monday. Smith and MATT DANCSECS gained First Team honors, as TYLER MCCREERY, JOE COVINO, and DAVID METZGER were named to the Second Team. The Honorable Mention choices featured CHRISTIAN BOYLE, MIKE MCCREERY, AIDAN LONG, DAVID DRISCOLL, and JACK CLEARY.

SCOUTING THE OSPREYS
Stockton is 15-2 on the season and went a perfect 6-0 within the CSAC. They advanced to the CSAC Championship Game with a 31-7 triumph over Rosemont Tuesday. Reegan Capozzoli tallied seven goals and two assists, while Dante Poli recorded two goals and six assists. Eric Lindskog and Matt Rotola combined to make 10 saves in the victory.
 
SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks are 34-12 all-time against Stockton but have fallen in their last five meetings. The Stockton win in 2017 snapped a 19-game Montclair State winning streak that dated back to 2006.
 
LAST MEETING
The Red Hawks were tripped up in the CSAC opener against Stockton earlier this season, falling 15-14. MATT DANCSECS tallied five goals and an assist, with TYLER MCCREERY adding five assists, but the Red Hawks could not fight back after falling behind by four goals in the third quarter.
 
POSTSEASON HISTORY
Montclair State is 10-1 all-time against Stockton in the postseason. They are 0-1 in the CSAC, 7-0 in the Skyline, 1-0 in the Knickerbocker, and 2-0 in the ECAC Tournament.
