Volleyball: Gameday Preview vs. Gallaudet and Penn State-Altoona

Montclair, NJ – The Montclair State volleyball team, starts off their 2022 campaign at the Gettysburg Battlefield Classic Friday and Saturday.

GAME INFO
The Red Hawks will face Gallaudet at 3 pm Friday before battling Penn State-Altoona at 7 pm to finish Day One of the tournament.

2021 REWIND
The Red Hawks finished the year with a 20-11 mark and advanced to the New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship Match. DELANEY ST. PIERRE was named the NJAC Player of the Year and became the second person in program history to earn All-America honors from the AVCA, while CARLY WATERMAN gained her second All-America nod.

SCOUTING GALLAUDET
The Bison went 21-12 last season, including a 7-1 mark in the United East Conference. They won the conference last season, knocking off Penn State-Harrisburg in the United East Semifinals before topping SUNY Morrisville 3-1 in the Championship Game. The Bison were eliminated in the NCAA First Round by Juniata College in straight sets, while Emily Wright was tabbed as United East Rookie of the Year.

SCOUTING PENN STATE-ALTOONA
The Lions went 16-5 last season, falling to Alfred State in the AMCC Semifinals. Penn State-Altoona was predicted to place third in the AMCC this fall, while Lydia Mock was chosen as the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. Erin Lutz was tabbed as the Player to Watch in the conference this fall.

SERIES HISTORY
The Red Hawks are 0-3 all-time against Gallaudet, falling in five sets in 1998, 2017, and 2021. Montclair State is 1-1 against Penn State-Altoona, losing 3-0 in 2010 before earning a 3-0 victory in 2016. Madison Maute led the Red Hawks with eight kills as Danielle Olcese tallied a team-high 19 digs.

LAST MEETING
