Preview | Men's Soccer vs. Connecticut College (NCAA Tournament Sectional Semifinal)

Montclair, NJ – The No. 5 Montclair State University men's soccer team takes on No. 7 Connecticut College in the Sectional Semifinal on Saturday.

Montclair and Connecticut College face off at 1:30 pm on the campus of Mary Washington, with Mary Washington and Washington College squaring off at 11 am. Live stats and video for the Montclair match are available on montclairathletics.com.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students/senior citizens/children. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Red Hawks (19-2-1, 9-0-0 NJAC) outlasted Christopher Newport 3-1 in double-overtime on Sunday. AMER LUKOVIC recorded a hat-trick and snapped a 1-1 tie 1:03 into the second overtime. The junior punctuated the win by scoring an unassisted marker with 1:02 left to establish the final margin. SHANE KEENAN made six saves to earn the victory.

NJAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS
The Red Hawks dispatched Rowan University 4-2 to claim the 15th New Jersey Athletic Conference Championship in program history. After trailing 1-0 at halftime, ENIR RADONCIC headed in the tying marker in the 51st minute before AMER LUKOVIC scored 76 seconds later. REED KARSEN made it 3-1 in the 61st minute before the Profs cut the lead in half. With time ticking away, Lukovic bagged his second goal of the game, cementing the 4-2 triumph.

SCOUTING CONNECTICUT COLLEGE
The Camels (12-1-6) were knocked off in the NESCAC Semifinals by Amherst College but earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. They topped Denison 3-1 in double-overtime in round one before outlasting Franklin & Marshall 7-6 in penalty kicks after a 1-1 draw. It is the third time the Camels have made the Sweet 16. 


SCOUTING MARY WASHINGTON
The Eagles (18-1-2) won the Coast-To-Coast Championship and are led by Josh Kirkland (15 goals) and Carter Berg (13 goals, 10 assists) on offense. The Eagles have allowed just 15 goals this year and knocked off Neumann 3-1 in double-overtime and John Carroll 3-2 in the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament.


SCOUTING WASHINGTON
The Shoremen (12-2-6) fell to Johns Hopkins in the Centennial Conference Semifinals but picked up an at-large bid to the tournament. Both of their losses have come at the hands of Johns Hopkins, and they advanced with wins over ranked opponents last weekend. They took down No. 25 Otterbein 2-1 before edging No. 17 Kenyon 5-4 in penalty kicks after a 1-1 deadlock.


SERIES HISTORY
Montclair has never played Connecticut College, is 2-1 against Mary Washington, and 2-1 against Washington College.


UP NEXT
The two Sectional Semifinal winners will meet in the Sectional Final on Sunday at 1 pm, with the winner advancing to the Final Four in December.
