Montclair, NJ – Senior forward
AILEEN CAHILL of the Montclair State University women's soccer team was named an Academic All-American by the College Sports Communications on Wednesday.
Cahill, tabbed to the Third Team, collects her second consecutive Academic All-American honor. She is the third from women's soccer to earn multiple Academic All-America honors, joining Gina Policastro and Jessica Bonjione (2013-14). The senior boasts a 3.94 GPA as an Educational Foundations/Elementary Education major and was the lone New Jersey Athletic Conference student-athlete selected.
Cahill was named a Third Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches, which marked the second straight year she has been named an All-American. Last season, she was tabbed as a First Team selection. She is only the second in program history to post multiple All-American honors, joining Bonjione, who was named to the D3soccer.com All-America Team in 2013 and 2014.
The NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, Cahill led the team with 12 goals and 31 points. After tallying a goal and an assist against New Paltz, Cahill scored a goal in a win against nationally-ranked Misericordia on September 13. She opened the NJAC campaign with a goal and helper against NJCU and fired nine shots in a victory over Arcadia on October 4. The Little Egg Harbor, NJ native closed the season by scoring a goal in the final nine games.
