Men's Track & Field Posts AARTFC Qualfiying Times At Ramapo Season Opener

New York, NY – The Montclair State University men's indoor track & field team had five student-athletes post AARTFC Indoor Regional qualifying marks at the Ramapo Season Opener on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

JALANI JOSEPH took second in the high jump, registering a height of 1.92m. His height was tied for meet high, but he was edged as his distance was on the second attempt. BECK DEENY led a trio of Red Hawks in the triple jump, taking third with an AARTFC qualifying leap and a personal best of 13.74m. JABEZ THOMAS was behind with a distance of 13.69m, as Jordan took eight with 13.14m.
JOHN GRIFFITH, who qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in the shot put last season, took third in the same event today. Griffith threw 14.91m while also placing sixth in the weight throw (14.93m). OWEN FOGARTY was the final regional qualifier, finishing third in the pole vault with a height of 4.45m.
MYLES DAY capped off the strong field performances with a 10th-place leap of 6.4m in the long jump, with Bryan Alvarez taking 11th in the shot put (12.65m). KAMAL KHAN notched a PR in the mile, turning in a time of 4:37.88.
Newcomer JOSEPH BIO qualified for the finals in the 60m hurdles. The newcomer turned in a preliminary round time of 9.12 before taking seventh in the finals in 9.09. SEBASTIAN RUIZ placed 12th in the 800 (2:00.81) as KEVIN PEREIRA (7.48) and VAN DALTON (7.64) were top-17 in the 60m.
